Covid-19 Resources

  • ZOOM - The OECN has arranged for full professional licenses of Zoom videoconference software for $7 per teacher (typically, these licenses are $150 per year). Teachers can conduct class with an Internet connection and a Chromebook/laptop; students can participate with a smartphone or with a computer and Internet.  The Zoom software allows for full class interaction, breakout rooms, formative assessments, attendance, attentiveness measures, and many strategies that promote effective distance learning.  Class sessions can be recorded and played back easily for students who miss class or need additional time with the content.  Zoom is also great for remote parent meetings.
  • Are you unfamiliar with Zoom and want additional training & resources?

Please contact Adam Blevins, Director of IT at adam@mail.hccanet.org or by phone (513) 728-7937.  If you can provide a spreadsheet with staff last name, first name and email address, this will speed the license process up.

Free On-Line Learning Resources through INFOhio

  • Teaching using videoconference requires powerful electronic content, which is available to all Ohio schools at every grade level and subject discipline through free, vetted, high quality resources from INFOhio, the instructional division of the Management Council (INFOhio is generously supported by the Ohio Department of Education).  These resources are all correlated to Ohio Standards and Benchmarks, and have been classroom-tested by Ohio teachers.

Training is available for your staff on both of these platforms – Zoom and INFOhio.  There are recorded sessions  available at https://community.mcoecn.org/display/RL.

Did you know GradeBook has an on-line learning module built in and ready for your staff to use today at no additional cost?

What can we do about obtaining signatures from parents for special education meetings?

Many of you may have received the “Ed Update” on Wednesday from ODE that acknowledges that providing services closest to the manners prescribed within IEPs may pose some challenges during Ohio’s current school-building closures. In that email, they provided a link to a document designed to help districts navigate these challenges. You can find that document here.

Here are screen shots outlining how software administrators in the district can turn this feature on in their respective applications.

IEP Anywhere Customers only - Updated information on obtaining Parent Signatures

As of March 23rd, SameGoal has launched remote electronic parent/guardian signatures in response to evolving district needs during the coronavirus pandemic.

When a document is shared with a parent, the parent will receive an email providing access to view the document, see edits by district collaborators in real-time during remote meetings, and electronically apply their signature where applicable. Parent edit access is limited only to parent signature fields.

Remote electronic parent signatures can help districts conduct parent meetings remotely. It has been added as a premium feature in SameGoal Plus for next school year, but they are extending remote electronic parent signatures now through June 30, 2020 for all customers at no additional cost.

Please let us know if you have questions or if you’d like a demonstration on how this functionality works.
